The Nevis under 21 Basketball team must be still lustily singing the song: ‘I believe in miracles.’
That after their encounter on the evening of Saturday 29th October, when they engaged the St.Kitts under 20 team, in an exciting game, at the Grell Hull-Stevens Netball Complex.
For all intents and purposes, judging by the half time score, it was going to be a blow out dished out by the St.Kitts team.
With the score then at 43 to 24, in favour of the St.Kitts team, some of the few fans who showed up for the game, were seen walking out of the Complex. As far as they were concerned, the fat lady had already arrived and was singing the national anthem for the Nevis team, which appeared to have stuck on 11 points for a long time, before they eventually broke loose.
However, whatever was said to the Nevisian players by their coaches at half time, seemed to have sparked a new zeal into the team and one commentator in his assessment indicated after the game: “Nevis went on like a dirt bike in the second half.’
This time around, the local players were driving to the hoop with more aggression and drawing a number of fouls; they stopped missing with such regularity from the free throw line and to crown it all, there were some spectacular shots from down town.
The won the final half of the game quite handsomely as the enthusiasm of the St.Kitts team faded and held on to a three point lead at the final whistle.
What a night and what a miraculous come back!
