The Nevis Academy held its annual Sports Meet on Tuesday, February 25th, at the Nevis Athletic Stadium. The distinguished patron for the event was former outstanding student-athlete, Devonte Browne.
The meet began early and was so well coordinated that it concluded around 5:15 PM. Athletes competed in various races, including the 400, 800, 1200, 200, and 100 meters, as well as the 4×100 and 4×400 relays, along with some fun races.
One of the biggest moments of the day occurred during the 100-meter event when long-serving track steward Conrad Smithen slipped and fell while trying to stop some of the younger athletes after a false start.
At the end of the day, it was the Orange Tigers who celebrated victory. The final scores were as follows:
– Orange Tigers: 321 points
– Blue Herons: 302 points
– Green Giants: 221 points
