The organizing committee for the Interprimary schools’ meets 2023, held the awards ceremony for the deserving children on Wednesday 10th May, at the Nevis Athletic Stadium Aka The Mondo track.
The proceedings were ably chaired by Mrs. Terez Warner and involved prayer by Mrs. Julie Pemberton and the national anthem of St. Kitts and Nevis, rendered on a pan by Mr. Junior Parris.
Minister of Education in the NIA, Hon. Troy Liburd, then delivered brief remarks, during which he congratulated the students/athletes on their exceptional performances at the 2023 edition of the grand event.
Thereafter, the top athletes were presented with their medals and trophies and the three top schools also received their trophies.
This aspect of the ceremony was coordinated by Ministry of Education officials, in collaboration with one of the patrons of the event, Ms. Romancia Mills and representatives of the various sponsors.
The class champions were:
Kindergarten: Nathaniel Stephens and Sashauna Earle of Charlestown Primary
Grade One: Amaren Archibald of STPS and Syanee Taylor of CPS
Grade Two: Tazeel Cozier of STPS and Adira Wallace of JLPS
Grade three: Zakeem Bailey of CPS and Rone Isles of STPS
Grade Four: Kelron Liburd Jr of JLPS and De’Myah Largie of SJPS
Grade Five: Jahreem Doras of VOJN and Janiah Mc Neil of CPS
Grade Six: Delijah Clarke of STPS and Nayeli DeJesus of EPPS
Victrix Ludorum-Adira Wallace of JLPS with 24 points
Victor Ludorum- Kelron Liburd Jr of JLPS with 24 points
In addition to their winning trophies and medals, the two top athletes in Adira Wallace and Kelron Liburd Jr, incidentally both from the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School, each received a brand-new bicycle, which complements Trinity Resort and SKN Athletics.
Their trophies were sponsored by former Olympian, Meritzer Williams.
After the ceremony, the children were all treated to lunch and enjoyed the remainder of the afternoon at the stadium in a fun day atmosphere, complete with the bouncing castle.
