Armed intruder shot while robbing popular restaurant

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- What would usually be a peaceful and quiet night at a relaxing and tranquil establishment at Nelson’s Spring, was disrupted by gunshots last night Wednesday, May 1, 2013.

Nevispages has learnt that sometime after 9:00 p.m. two masked gunmen entered the establishment of the Yachtsman Grill and robbed the establishment at gun point.

Further information revealed that while the intruders tried to make an escape from the scene, the manager fired one single round striking one of the intruders.

Acting on information received, police officers searched one home in Cotton Ground early thing morning, Thursday, May 2, 2013. Officers found a young man in his bedroom with a gunshot wound to his foot.

This media house understands that the male is currently a patient at the Alexandra Hospital and is in the custody of police.

Unconfirmed reports reaching this media house indicated that in the early hours of Monday, April 30, 2013, moments after the earthquake, a retired taxi driver in Zion Village, was tied up and robbed at gun point by a masked intruder.

Further unconfirmed reports also indicate that the home of a top civil servant in Gingerland was also burglarized in broad day light.

Police are said to be investigating these incidents.
