(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- Information reaching this publication indicates that officers of the Customs and Excise Department and Police Officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force are investigating a matter where two firearms and a large quantity of matching rounds of ammunition were discovered at Long Point Port, Nevis on Monday, October 6, 2014.
It is reported that a Gingerland resident is currently in police custody assisting with the investigation. It is alleged that the package that was at the customs warehouse at Long Port was addressed to the individual with the individual’s name and address.
Up to press time, no charges have been made as investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
This incident comes three months after Shintez Mintos of Butlers Village was arrested after a search was conducted by Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise Department Enforcement Division which was supported by the Anti-Robbery Team (ART) and the Nevis Task Force on July, 7 2014, on a pick-up truck owned by the Nevis Island Administration and was at the time driven by Mintos. The vehicle was heading away from the port when the officers made the bust. During the extensive search of the vehicle and its contents, the officers discovered a semi-automatic pistol with nine (9) matching rounds of ammunition.
