Charlestown-Nevis- The 15th annual edition of the Summer job attachment program, hosted by the Youth and Sports Department of Nevis, has officially been launched, with an open invitation for eligible persons to apply.
This was revealed on Tuesday 29th May, by Director of the Youth Department, Miss Zahnela Claxton.
Miss Claxton further indicated that application forms are available at her office, located at the Reliable Motors Miniplex, in Charlestown and persons can apply up to the 5th of June or up to that point when the set quota of sixty applicants, is achieved.
The summer job attachment program caters for all school leavers in any given year, whether they are from 4th form; fifth form or 6th form and even caters for persons leaving AVEC and the CFBC.
This year’s program will focus on sustainable goal number 8, as outlined by the United Nations and will be guided by the theme: ‘Activate 8; promoting decent work and economic growth.’
Some of the elements to which the participants will be exposed this year include:
A workshop from 18th to 22nd June
An internship period from July 9th to August 10th
An official closing ceremony on August 9th
According to Miss Claxton, the program seeks to develop the participants in a holistic manner and will help to prepare them for the world of work.
As part of the program, participants will be expected to become part of a voluntary component, which requires them to volunteer for at least twenty hours of community service, between the internship period and up to one year after. Ten hours must be completed by the end of summer.
