A new tourism attraction in St. Kitts: AMAZING GRACE EXPERIENCE

SANDY POINT, ST. KITTS, MARCH 26TH 2014 (CUOPM) – Kittitians and Nevisians as well as visitors have a new attraction to experience.

“We all know the song Amazing Grace, but how many of us know what was behind the creation of this moving and inspirational hymn? Located in stunning Sandy Point on the beautiful tropical island of St Kitts is the The Amazing Grace Experience.

“From slave trader to abolitionist – Sandy Point, home of World Heritage Site Brimstone Hill Fortress, (built for the British by the blood & sweat of slaves), is the setting for the dramatic transformation of JOHN NEWTON, a foul-mouthed slave trader who experienced an epiphany that began his journey from human trafficker into an evangelical Anglican cleric and abolitionist. Along with his dramatic change of heart came the creation of perhaps the most well-known and oft-sung inspirational hymn of all time!,” a news release said Tuesday.

It said the Amazing Grace Experience – is a newly-opened visitor center is situated on the breathtakingly beautiful tropical paradise of St. Kitts. Open from 9AM to 4PM, the Center’s interactive attractions and center personnel will guide the visitor through the story of John Newton, culminating in the history of the song everyone has sung but so few know the story behind. The Entrance fee has been waived and is FREE up until October. The tour includes a fabulous audio/visual experience staged in a themed theater venue unique to St. Kitts. (Facilities for disabled visitors are also available)

The Amazing Grace Experience not only offers visitors an inspiring history lesson but is an exciting destination point for those exploring this Caribbean island paradise. The visitor center encourages tour operators and taxi drivers to add this destination to a part of an island tour for an intensive and immersive discovery of the story behind Amazing Grace and the transformative change that happened at what we now call Pump Bay in Sandy Point, the change that helped strengthen the fight against the slave trade.
