(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- As the Department of Agriculture continues its preparations for the hosting of the Miss Farm Queen Pageant and the calypso competition which is scheduled to be held on Saturday March 29, 2014 at the Cultural Complex, the five contestants were treated to an excursion to St Kitts on Saturday March 15, 2014.
During the visit, the contestants received a complimentary tour on the St Kitts Scenic Railway which took them to most of the rural areas on the island. Following the three hour tour, the contestants enjoyed lunch at the St Kitts Marriott compliments Nevis’ Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. Alexis Jeffers.
A planned tour of the Taiwan Agro Tourism Farm did not materialize due to time constraints. However, the contestants were able to get a glimpse of the farm during the Scenic Railway Tour.
On their way back to take the ferry to Nevis, the contestants made a brief stop at Porte Zante.
The contestants were accompanied on the trip by pageant coordinators Dr Patricia Bartlette and Miss Tamica Lawrence as well as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture Mr. Eric Evelyn who has the responsibility for promotion of the event.
The pageant coordinators and the Department of Agriculture appreciate the generosity of the MV Carib Surf, the St Kitts Scenic Railway, the St Kitts Tourism Authority and the Hon. Alexis Jeffers for making the trip an enjoyable one for the contestants.
The pageant combined with the calypso competition is slated for Saturday March 29, 2014 at the Cultural Complex beginning at 8:00 p.m.
