Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 08, 2016 (SKNIS): The men and women at the Basseterre Fire Station, St. Kitts, and those in the unit at the Vance Amory International Airport, Nevis, are now able to better enjoy the bit of down time they experience, thanks to a recent donation.
On Wednesday (April 06), President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services (SKNFRS) Sports Club, Davron Clarke, presented a 40 inch television to Fire Sub Station Officer II, Rommel Williams, in Basseterre, while Fire Station Officer, Abdias Samuel, and the members in Newcastle received a 32 inch television and a microwave from the club’s Treasurer, Mavis Archibald.
President Clarke said that “the executive members of the sports club take pride in ensuring that the members are taken care of and their contributions to the club are properly managed and are profitable.”
He added that it was important to encourage socializing amongst the staff as the job of fighting fires and executing search and rescue operations can be quite stressful. It is expected that the televisions and the microwave will enhance recreational activities.
“Educational development cannot be underscored enough,” Clarke stated. “The items contributed are just the start of many more to come in the near future which can be used in capacity building exercises through sports and other areas.”
The users were encouraged to care for the items.
