BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MAY 15TH 2013 (CUOPM) – A visiting team from the Washington-based International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) submitted another economic report to a joint meeting of the Federal and Nevis Island Administration Cabinet on Wednesday.
Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas in brief opening remarks apologized for the absence of Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Vance Amory and ministers of his Cabinet who were attending a public event on Nevis as a result of a scheduling clash.
The NIA was represented by the Financial Secretary, Mr. Laurie Lawrence and Treasurer, Mr. Colin Dore.
Prime Minister Douglas used the opportunity to introduce to the IMF and ECCB officials, the Federation’s new Deputy Prime Minister the Hon. Dr. Earl Asim Martin and the new Attorney General, the Hon. Jason Hamilton.
Wednesday’s meeting was the first joint Cabinet session attended by the CCM-led Nevis Island Administration.
