Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 22, 2015 (RSCNPF): The Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) of Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is seeking the assistance of the community as it investigates a shooting incident which allegedly occurred along the island main road in the Cleverly Hill area of Sandy Point around 8:20 pm on Saturday (November 21).
According to the unit, a report was received from the Pogson Hospital that a male victim showed up with gunshot injury claiming to be shot while walking on the island main road at Cleverly Hill.
The officers visited the Pogson Hospital and interviewed a 22 year old male patient who was being treated for a gunshot injury to his hand. The victim was transported to the JNF General Hospital for follow up care where he was treated and discharged.
Various units including the Forensic Services Unit were deployed to the area of the alleged incident and found no indication of a shooting. House to house enquiries were conducted and investigations are ongoing.
Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Criminal Investigations Mr. Ian Queeley said,”i want to appeal to the community that if persons have any information that can assist the police in this crime, or any other crime to call any Police Station in the Federation or Crime Stoppers, our confidential hotline at 1-800-8477 to share information. We have to stop this behavior, it will only hurt our communities. Let us work hand in hand and take back our villages and our town,” stressed ACP Queeley.
