HON. BRANDY-WILLIAMS VISITS SENIORS
Charlestown-Nevis-Tuesday 27th October was a very significant one for some of the seniors on Nevis.
That was the day when the Junior Minister within the Ministry of Social Development, Hon Hazel Brandy-Williams, took time out from her busy schedule to visit some of them.
This was part of the activities featured during the month recognized worldwide as ‘the month of older persons.’
The Minister’s visits coincided with similar visits being done island wide by the workers at the Seniors’ division at the Social Services department, as they visited seniors island wide who are currently home bound and in some cases, bedridden.
The workers did not go empty handed either, as the seniors visited, received fruit baskets as well.
So too, Minister Brandy-Williams selected two persons from each Parish, a total of ten persons and made her surprise call to their homes.
She spoke with them and encouraged them to continue to trust God and told them that she had come ‘bearing gifts,’ and personally presented them with fruit baskets.
The seniors all appeared happy and enthused to see the Minister and expressed gratitude for her kind words and gifts.
