Thousands crowd Charlestown to celebrate Team Unity’s victory

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)– Supporters of the Concerned Citizen’s Movement celebrated their victory on Wednesday (Feb. 18) afternoon with a motorcade throughout the island of Nevis.

The motorcade began at the Samuel Hunkins Drive, and then headed towards the parish of St. Thomas and concluded in Charlestown. Whistles echoed throughout the motorcade, vehicles blew their horns, supporters waved their blue, yellow and orange flags that symbolizes the colours of the three parties that makes up Team Unity as they drove through the island of Nevis celebrating their victory.

At about 4:30 p.m. Charlestown was crowded with hundreds of supporters of the People’s Action Movement and the People’s Labour Party who traveled to Nevis to join their third member coalition the Concerned Citizens’ Movement in a huge rally as they celebrated the victory of Team Unity.

After the new Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris was sworn in by Governor General, Sir Edmund Wickham Lawrence in St. Kitts, he along with Hon. Shawn Richards, Hon. Ian ‘Patches’ Liburd, Hon. Lindsay Grant, Hon. Eugene Hamilton and Sam Condor headed to Nevis to join the jubilant supporters and the members of CCM.

Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris was sworn in as the third Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis. The swearing in ceremony took place at Government House two days after the Opposition alliance Team Unity won the federal election with 7 out of 11 seats.

Here is a summary of the winners:
Ian ‘Patches’ Liburd won Constituency Number 1 for the People’s Action Movement.
Marcella Liburd retained Constituency Number 2 for the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party.
Konris Maynard took Constituency Number 3 seat for the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party.
Constituency Number 4 was won by Lindsay Grant of the People’s Action Movement.
Shawn Richards won Constituency Number 5 once again for the People’s Action Movement.
Dr. Denzil Douglas has retained Constituency Number 6 for the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party.
Dr. Timothy Harris has retained Constituency Number 7 for the newly formed People’s Labour Party.
Constituency Number 8 was retained by the People’s Action Movement’s Eugene Hamilton.
In Nevis, Constituency Number 9 was won by Mark Brantley of the Concerned Citizen’s Movement.
Constituency Number 10 by Vance Amory of the Concerned Citizen’s Movement.
Constituency Number 11 was won by the Nevis Reformation Party’s Patrice Nisbett.
