In only his second race since returning two weeks ago Shirvon Greene of Craddock Road, Charlestown Nevis took the field once more to represent the New Balance Central Park Track Club, in the on going 5K cross country series tournament in which took place at the historic Vancortland Park, located in the West Bronx New York ,and ran it with a mission.
There was this time a total of one hundred and eighty athletes twenty more than two weeks ago. Each athletes represented their various clubs including the host Vancortland .
Of this field Greene finished seventh overall in a time of 19.13 which is one place better and also 11 secs faster than his previous race and this time 1st overall in his Age Category which was (20-30 years) which was one place better than his previous race. It must be noted at race time it was 86 degrees and very humid ,the conditions was very though and was even more challenging when the racers learned before the race that there was a fallen tree in the middle of course, due to the storms the night before.

The race was good felt more comfortable ,execution was much better than previous race however more work definitely needed and it will come , I’m just happy with the improvement and that’s the ultimate goal , to improve and get stronger week by week. Once again just would like to thank God for continuing to give me strength and enabling me to run injury free , My Family and the entire Nevis & Monroe College Community for their continuous support .
In terms of Greene’s next scheduled individual race, it will take place on Thursday July 17th at Vancortland at 7pm. Also there will be a 2x2Mile Relay on July 3rd in which Greene has yet to commit to.
