Three Teenagers Off to Digicel KickStart Academy

Basseterre, St. Kitts (June 20, 2014) – The Digicel KickStart Clinic in collaboration with coaches of the Chelsea Football Club recently concluded and saw three young footballers being chosen to represent St. Kitts & Nevis on a regional platform.

After 2 days of on-field training and a demonstration match of 30 footballers from (both islands) St. Kitts and Nevis High Schools, Tyquan Terell, Jamihk Gumbs and Josiah Imo were individually chosen by the Chelsea Football Club coaches to represent our Federation at the annual Digicel KickStart Academy. This Football Academy is scheduled for Bridgetown, Barbados in October of this year.

The agile and enthusiastic boys will be challenged to endure a week of intense training with the coaches of the Chelsea Football Club at the Kensington Oval amongst other selectees from other Digicel KickStart Caribbean islands.

An objective of the Digicel KickStart Academy is to give young footballers opportunities to be scouted for scholarships overseas. The Representatives are therefore being encouraged to keep a positive attitude and do their best to showcase their football skills to the best of their abilities.

Ronaldo Belgrove was also chosen as a Wild Card entry for the KickStart Academy. He will be up against other wild card entries vying for an opportunity to attend the Academy in Barbados. A link will be posted on Digicel’s St. Kitts and Nevis’ Facebook page (www.facebook.com/digicelstkittsandnevis) after all other clinics have been completed, empowering Kittitians and Nevisians to log on and vote for Renaldo to give him the opportunity to go to Barbados.

Digicel wishes to thank the coaches of Chelsea Football Club for visiting our beautiful island to train our boys and wish the selected footballers all the best in the Digicel KickStart Academy Barbados later this year.
