In the final preliminary matches for both teams, Easterns defeated SDA Jets at the ET Willet Park on Sunday 27th April.
Easterns’ skipper, Sterling Heyliger, won the toss and joyfully elected to bat first, with the Jets team only fielding seven men.
At the end of their allotted 20 overs, they had chalked up 157 for 9.
Kayode Wilkin batted determinedly for 52; Sterling Heyliger scored 30 and Samuel Williams 28.
For the Jets, Elroy Kelly bagged 4 wickets for 24 runs; Pastor Stanton Adams 2 for 22 and Captain Curtis Morton Jr got 3 for 15.
The Jets started off with a rapid flurry of runs, with 15 from the first over but eventually lost their way.
Captain Curtis Morton Jr top scored with 28; guest player Roger Fyfield batted impressively for 27; Curtis Morton Sr scored 23 and Pastor Stanton Adams looked really good for his 19, before he was unfortunately run out.
SDA Jets 118 for 6 in 17 overs—effectively all out.
Clinton ‘Swanny’ Swanston totally bamboozled the batsmen with his mystery spinners to pick up 4 wickets and Sterling Heyliger got 2 wickets with his off spinners.
Easterns won the game by 39 runs.
