BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MARCH 22ND 2013 (CUOPM) – Residents of Old Road and the surrounding areas will enjoy better primary health care services when the new Health Centre opens next month.
Minister of Health, the Hon. Marcella Liburd announced this week that April 18th is the date set for the official opening of the new facility.
“We want to thank Social Security for funding the furniture equipment and fencing of that new Old Road Health Centre,” said Minister Liburd, who pointed out that the building was financed under the Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF) with funds from the Caribbean Development Bank and the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis.
“We want to also compliment the contractor, Mr. Clinton Sillidy, a resident of Old Road who did an excellent job in building the new centre,” she said at the ministerial press briefing.
“We want to provide for better and more comfortable healthcare for the persons in the Old Road and surrounding areas,” the health minister said.
The services to be offered include doctor’s clinic, family planning clinic, diabetic clinic, hypertensive clinic, disability clinic, antenatal and post natal clinic, HIV testing and Pap smear clinic.
“The project also involved construction of a car park for 8 cars at the rear of the building and allowance for easy access for challenged persons and persons in wheelchairs,” said BNTF Project Officer, Mr. Osbert DeSuza.
