The third attempt to hold the annual general meeting in order to elect an executive to run the cricketing affairs of Nevis will be made on Wednesday 8th January.
President of the Nevis Cricket Association, Keith ‘Dis N Dat’ Scarborough, indicated on Monday that his Association has made two attempts already at hosting the AGM but there was a poor showing of teams and clubs on the two previous dates –16th and 30th of December 2013.
Scarborough took time out to remind the teams that the meeting is now scheduled for Wednesday 8th January, starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Nevis Credit Union Conference Room.
An obviously disappointed Scarborough also pointed out that if the meeting scheduled for Wednesday does not materialize that in accordance with the constitution, the current Cricket Administration will proceed to continue the running of the cricket affairs on the island.
He noted that the present association has already made contact with potential sponsors for the various tournaments to be organized for this year.
He also indicated that the plan is to get the second division tournament on the way before the end of January. There is also a plan to schedule more matches in the rural areas, utilizing venues such as the Gingerland Recreation grounds; The Cotton Ground Playing field; the VOJN play field and any other available grounds. This in an effort to avoid clashes with the use of the main venue at the ET Willet Park, especially as this is the athletic sports term for the various schools across the island.
He made a concerted appeal for teams and clubs to take their responsibility seriously and send at least two representatives to the meeting on Wednesday.
Scarborough also took time out to congratulate the Nevisian senior cricketers who have been included in the 30 man practice squad for the Leeward Islands and also congratulated Stuart Williams on his appointment as Coach for the team.
