On the evening of Friday, April 12, 2025, officers from the Traffic Department, led by Superintendent Bradshaw and Sergeant Henry, conducted a series of vehicle checkpoints (VCPs) in the areas of Johnson Long Path and the Island Main Road at Needsmust. These operations took place between 7:00 p.m. and 12:10 a.m. the following morning, as part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and ensure compliance with traffic laws.
During the operation, a total of sixty (60) traffic tickets were issued for various offences. These included:
– Forty-eight (48) tickets for exceeding the speed limit
– Five (5) tickets for driving at night with only one functioning headlamp
– Two (2) tickets for transporting a child without the use of a seatbelt
– Three (3) tickets for driving with unauthorized lights
– Two (2) tickets for failing to produce a driver’s license immediately upon request
These enforcement efforts reflect the Department’s commitment to maintaining order and promoting responsible driving behaviours on the Federation’s roadways.
The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force reminds all motorists to observe speed limits, use appropriate lighting when driving at night, secure all passengers with seatbelts, and ensure they can present their driver’s license when requested. Road safety is a shared responsibility.
