Athletics : BHS Dethrones CSS In Ginseng-Up Classics

It was an exhilarating contest as secondary schools from Nevis and St. Kitts faced off at the Nevis Athletic Stadium on Sunday, February 23rd. The distinguished patron for the day was the long-serving sports personality from Nevis, Mr. Denzil Parris, who was impeccably dressed for the occasion.

Following the march past of the teams, an impressive ceremony was held, chaired by Education Officer Mrs. Terez Dore. Also addressing the gathering were representatives from Carib Brewery/Ginseng-up and the Director of Sports on St. Kitts, Mr Hazel.

The competing schools included the defending champions, Charlestown Secondary School (CSS), along with Basseterre High School (BHS), Verchilds High School, Cayon High School, Washington Archibald High School, Gingerland Secondary School (GSS), and Saddlers High School.

The athletes competed in various events such as the 400 meters, 800 meters, 100 meters, 3000 meters, 4×100 meter relay, 4×400 meter relay, and hurdles. The races were highly competitive, resulting in several records being broken.

At the end of the day, Basseterre High School triumphed over the defending champions, Charlestown Secondary, who ended up in third place.
