Basseterre, St. Kitts – Back by popular demand, the St. Kitts Tourism Authority in Canada recently hosted the fifth instalment of its culinary event, “Savour St. Kitts”, designed to help travel advisors learn more about the destination’s diverse culinary experiences. The interactive event, held this year at Capra’s Kitchen, just outside of Toronto, was at maximum capacity as agents excitedly crowded in to have their chance to cook Kittitian-inspired dishes side-by-side with Canadian celebrity chef Massimo Capra.
“St. Kitts is emerging as a foodie hotspot right now because of our wide array of immersive culinary experiences,” said Kelly Fontenelle, CEO of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority. “We know that Canadians rank as some of the most passionate foodies in the world, and they want to explore beyond their resort and dive into the local flavours and dining experiences. People are truly amazed when they arrive and quickly discover the incredible food culture here, so this event helps us emphasise that message to Canadian travel agents.”
During the event, Chef Capra led six interactive cooking stations where the agents prepared and cooked Kittitian-inspired dishes, including oxtail potato gnocchi, fresh seafood salad and a spiced chicken dish.
To help Canadians discover its extensive culinary offerings, St. Kitts created the Savour St. Kitts guide as a print and digital resource that celebrates the island’s vibrant epicurean scene. From the best venues for enjoying gourmet fare and authentic local food to the ultimate sundowner cocktail bars and beachside experiences, and of course, where to sip and savour the island’s finest rums, the guide is a trusted resource for travel agents in helping them guide their food-loving clients.
