On the morning of November 6, 2024, a coordinated effort involving the Special Services Unit, Drug Squad, Joint Special Operations Task Team, Traffic Department, Beat and Patrol, and officers from the Stapleton and Frigate Bay Police Stations led to a successful series of vehicular checkpoints (VCPs) along Island Main Road in Conaree, St. Johnson Long Path, and near the Shadwell Roundabout. This operation aimed to enforce traffic laws and ensure public safety on the nation’s roads.
During the operation, officers issued a total of 104 traffic tickets for various infractions, including:
– 45 tickets for driving with dark-tinted windows,
– 23 tickets for excessively tinted windscreens,
– 19 tickets for failure to wear seatbelts,
– 3 tickets for operating unlicensed vehicles,
– 3 tickets for using cell phones while driving and
– 4 tickets for unauthorised lighting.
Additionally, officers required motorists to remove tint from 31 vehicles to ensure compliance with legal standards. Searches were conducted on 31 vehicles involving a total of 42 occupants on suspicion of possession of controlled substances, arms, or ammunition; however, no prohibited items were found.
The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force urges all motorists to prioritise safety by strictly adhering to traffic regulations.
