Press Release: Project ELEVATE’s Commitment to Federation’s Food Security
St. Kitts and Nevis — Project ELEVATE took significant strides in the Federation’s drive towards food security as Project Coordinator Alicia Collins, alongside participants of Elevate, Extension Officer for District 6, Mr Mark Adams, and key stakeholders, conducted a field assessment in District 6. The team, which included Mr. Lesroy Benjamin, Mr. Leroy Merritt, and Chad Brandy members of the Land Management Unit, worked together to identify lands that will be assigned to participants under the Agriculture 25 by 25 agenda.
The Agriculture 25 by 25 agenda is an initiative by the government of St. Kitts and Nevis aimed at reducing food imports by 25% by the year 2025. By supporting initiatives like Project ELEVATE, the Federation moves closer to achieving its food production goals and ensuring a secure and self-sustaining food supply.
Participants of Project ELEVATE expressed their enthusiasm and readiness to make a lasting impact on the country’s agricultural landscape. “This opportunity allows us to not only contribute to the nation’s food security but also to create livelihoods in our communities and build a brighter future,” shared one participant during the field assessment.
As the Federation works toward achieving its 25 by 25 targets, Project ELEVATE and its participants are poised to play a pivotal role in strengthening the local agricultural sector, ensuring sustainable development, and securing food independence for future generations.
