St. Kitts And Nevis and India Have Entered into A Significant Partnership to Enhance Sports Development in The Federation.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed during the visit of Dr. Denzil Douglas, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of St. Kitts and Nevis, to India. The agreement aims to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the sports sector, with a focus on empowering young athletes.

The Indian Sports Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya, emphasised the similarities in development issues shared by both nations, expressing India’s commitment to supporting the diversification of the economy and providing opportunities for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Additionally, India’s assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic was acknowledged, with a pledge to further enhance cooperation in various fields.

Under the MOU, key areas of cooperation include; athlete training and competition, technical assistance to coaches, exchange programmes, and youth exchanges in various sports disciplines.

The agreement also encompasses sports science development, coach education, curriculum development, and infrastructure enhancement.

Furthermore, collaboration in sports research, anti-doping programmes, and physical education initiatives between universities and institutions of both countries is outlined in the partnership.

Dr. Denzil Douglas’ visit to India marks a significant diplomatic milestone, further strengthened by discussions with Indian officials on matters of trade, business, and commerce.

The exchange of gifts symbolised the historic visit, with hopes of fostering tangible benefits for both nations.

The Minister’s upcoming meeting with Dr. S Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs, aims to deepen discussions on mutual interests and reinforce bilateral ties between St. Kitts and Nevis and India.
