The semi-finals of the Runako Morton/TDC Primary Schools’ Cricket tournament took place at the ET Willet Park on Wednesday, 10th July.
In the second game, defending champions VOJN competed against the Ivor Walters Primary School (IWPS).
VOJN had been performing exceptionally well in all their matches leading up to the semi-finals. It was expected that they would easily defeat the IWPS team. However, IWPS won the toss and chose to bat first. They played well, achieving a challenging total of 88 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their allotted 12 overs.
When VOJN came to bat, their top scorers Deshawn James and Te’Jhani Daniel failed to make a significant impact. The rest of the team also struggled, and VOJN was bowled out for a mere 21 runs. This unexpected turn of events led to IWPS celebrating a remarkable victory.
In the other match, Joycelyn Liburd Primary School (JLPS) faced off against St. Thomas’ Primary School (STPS). JLPS batted first and scored 81 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, while STPS could only manage 46 runs before being bowled out.
As a result, IWPS and JLPS will compete in the grand finals on Friday, 12th July. Before that, VOJN will play against STPS to determine the 3rd and 4th place positions.
