The Ministry of Education in St. Kitts and Nevis has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chamber of Crafts Flensburg in Germany to support the Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) in the Federation. The MoU was signed by the Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, and Ms. Celina Niehoff, International Affairs Coordinator at the Chamber of Crafts Flensburg, at the office of the Deputy Prime Minister on Wednesday, April 3.
The collaboration is aimed at advancing TVET development in St. Kitts and Nevis and will benefit the people of the Federation by allowing them to explore while giving back to the community. The signing ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister’s representative, Mr Glenroy Blanchette, Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Mrs Lisa Pistana, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, and Dr Kertney Thompson, Chief Executive Officer, St. Kitts and Nevis TVET Secretariat.
Dr. Hanley expressed gratitude for the partnership and said that it was a concept in the theme “Transforming Education Through Self Renewal, Holistic Partnerships and Digital Solutions” that the Ministry of Education is using for the next seven years. Ms. Niehoff also expressed her excitement about the partnership and said that her CEO was passionate about the project.
Ms. Niehoff’s visit to the Federation includes site visits and conferences with students and faculty members at both AVEC and CFBC and the Maintenance Department of the Joseph N. France General Hospital. The Chamber of Crafts Flensburg is working with several schools together in the vocational training part and is also working with about 11,000 companies in the CRAFT Sector.
