Windwards Defeat Leewards in Female Cricket Practice Encounter

The Windward Islands female cricket team, led by Windies all-rounder Afy Fletcher, won a practice match against their Leeward Islands counterparts on Tuesday, February 27th at the ET Willet Park. The Leewards batted first and scored 173 runs for 9 wickets in their allotted 35 overs. Captain Amanda Edwards scored an impressive 78 not out and shared a partnership with Jahzara Claxton that yielded over 50 runs.

The Windwards needed 174 runs for victory and achieved their target with the loss of 6 wickets. The two teams will play again on Thursday, February 29th at the same venue, this time in a fifty overs per-team encounter starting at 10 am.

The general public is encouraged to support the ladies as they prepare for the regional female championship, which begins in St. Kitts on Monday, March 4th.
