Last year’s losing finalist in the Primary Schools’ Football tournament, St. James’ Primary, engaged the Nevis Academy on Monday 6th November, at the Et Willet Park.
The St. James’ team knew that if they were to qualify for the semifinals this year, they needed not only to win the game but also to score at least two goals.
However, they found the determined Nevis Academy team to be no walkover and had to work hard.
Eventually, they knocked one into the back of the net, going to halftime with a 1-to-nil lead.
With their supportive fans in red, on the edge of the square, they tried hard for a second goal.
It came uniquely:
The Nevis Academy goalkeeper was in the process of clearing the ball out of the box and Zayne Mintos turned his back to protect himself.
The ball struck him forcefully and rolled into the back of the net.
Final score: St. James’ Primary 2 Nevis Academy 1
Player of the match Zayne Mintos of St. James’ Primary, received a ball complements of SOL; an award from Saneldo Willet and a community movie pass.
