St. Kitts & Nevis National Carnival

The colour ‘BLACK’ is POWER and in our National Flag it represents our African Heritage. NOIR depicts the gift of opportunity and appreciation to ancestors especially those who fought to get us to where we are today. Young revellers in the NOIR division symbolises the strength of our people; for we are not only intelligent, and resourceful but we are deeply propelled by Ancient wisdom which is the real power behind our National Pride.

FEMALE COSTUME – Main attire is long black tights with a cropped ruffled black top. Shoulder pieces are made up of long black feathers. The waist and ankles also have small black feathers. The headpiece is an African tribal crown with beads that represent the colours of the St. Kitts & Nevis flag. Also matching is an over the top neckpiece. Black tribal bands adorn the arms, wrists and ankles.

MALE COSTUME – The main attire is a black short pant and a poncho with the St. Kitts and Nevis flag bordered by gold trimming. The headpiece is a black tribal hat with a single gold strip. Black tribal bands adorn the arms, wrists and ankles while a long staff with black feathers is carried.
