Basseterre, St. Kitts (SKNIS): The Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) has congratulated the Government and people of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis on its 40th anniversary of Independence.
In a congratulatory message transmitted through the Embassy of Eastern Caribbean States in Brussels, Georges Rebelo Pinto CHIKOTI, Secretary-General of the OACPS said:
“On behalf of the Organisation of Africa, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) and on my personal behalf, I have the pleasure to extend to you my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis. I would also like to, through you, convey to the Honourable Prime Minister, Dr. Terrance Drew, the Government and the People of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, my best wishes for happiness and prosperity.
“I avail myself of this occasion to thank Saint Christopher and Nevis for its meaningful contribution to the cohesion and solidarity within the OACPS. This support makes it possible for the Organisation to play an effective and increasingly important role in ensuring that the legitimate interests of its Member States are taken into due account and safeguarded, especially in international fora.
“Assured of the continued and constant support of Saint Christopher and Nevis in the accomplishment of the mission entrusted to me by the Members of the OACPS, I can assure your country of my total commitment, and that of the Secretariat to ensure the harmonious attainment of the objectives of our Organisation.”
