CONCACAF Club Shield Fast Approaching

S L Horfords St. Paul’s United FC will represent St. Kitts and Nevis in the Concacaf Caribbean Club Shield, which will be held in St. Kitts from August 3-13, 2023.

St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) is gearing up to host Caribbean football’s biggest club tournament this summer: the Concacaf Caribbean Club Shield slated for August 3-13.

The Warner Park Football Stadium and the SKNFA Technical Centre are the venues for the competition, which will see 15 Caribbean football clubs duking it out for the most coveted prize in regional club football.

SKNFA Premier League defending champions S.L. Horfords St. Paul’s United will represent the Federation in the tournament. St. Paul’s United will compete in Group A along with Junior Stars from St. Maarten, Jong Holland from Curacao and Metropolitan from Puerto Rico in Group A. The other remaining groups are

Group B: South East FC (Dominica), Scholars International SC (Cayman Islands), Golden Lion (Martinique)

Group C: OyM FC (Dominican Republic), B1 FC (St Lucia), AS Etoile De Matoury (French Guiana), SV Robinhood (Suriname)

Group D: Club Sando FC (Trinidad and Tobago), SV Dakota (Aruba), Solidarité Scolaire (Guadeloupe), SWA Sharks FC (Turks and Caicos Islands)

After round-robin play, the top two teams from each group qualify for the semi-final round which will play on August 11 and the third-place playoff and finals on August 13.

The Local Organizing Committee is working hard to ensure the success of this tournament, which is the first major one of its kind to be hosted in St. Kitts and Nevis. Earlier, when it was announced that the tournament would be held in St. Kitts and Nevis, SKNFA President Atiba Harris said: “This is indeed a historical moment for the SKNFA and our country in being confirmed as host of the 2023 Concacaf Caribbean Club Shield Tournament.

The fact that Concacaf has entrusted us as host, shows the significant strides that we’ve made in less than two years in raising the standard of football in our country.” He extended best wishes to the participating clubs and particularly the home club St. Paul’s United.
