We are now in the second match week of the 2023 SKNFA Premier League. Let’s preview Friday’s matches which will be played at St. Mary’s Park in Cayon. The first match of the doubleheader is between Fast Cash Saddlers United and Rams Village Superstars. Saddlers are coming off a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Security Forces in their Premier League opener on Sunday. The manner in which they scored that victory has sparked life in their premier league campaign under new coach Samuel Phipps. After Sunday’s match, he spoke about how they intend to build on this victory. “I have to work on the defense. There are a lot of key players who are not here…and we have some reshuffling to do. We will have to go back to the pitch, to the drawing board and make things right,” Phipps said after Sunday’s match.
Village had an opening match they would want to forget, losing 4-1 to Cayon Rockets. But their experienced coach Stephen Clarke knows exactly what they need to do to fix that problem. “Just a little one or two things we have to work on; playing the ball a little faster, moving from defense to attack and cutting out the individual mistakes,” Clarke said.
In the main match-up of the night, home side Flow 4G Cayon Rockets, will host Hotprings Bath United. Cayon is high on confidence after their impressive opening win versus Village and are looking to build on that performance. Bath, on the other hand, wants to come out more prepared and ready in a bid to boost morale after being thumped 5-1 by Newtown United last week. Friday’s action begins at 6 pm between Saddlers and Village followed by Bath vs Cayon at 8:15 pm.
