Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Sports, Mr. Kevin Barrett, made a very significant presentation on Thursday 26th January.
The presentation was made to a local coach, Alexandra Richards, who recently landed a scholarship to pursue a degree in Physical Education, in Cuba.
Miss Richards will leave for Cuba today, Friday 27th January.
According to Mr. Barrett, having learned of some of the immediate needs of the young athlete, he was able to purchase and present on behalf of the Ministries that he represents, a significant supply of foodstuff and toiletries.
Alexandra for her part thanked Mr. Barrett, the Ministries and by extension the Nevis Island Administration, Director of Sports, Jamir Claxton, who also chaired the proceedings, her numerous coaches, mentors and supportive family members for their assistance towards her progress thus far.
