Swimming instructor, Dave Farmer, representing FINA (The world Swimming Federation) was on Nevis recently conducting a course for swimming coaches in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Farmer is the FINA Regional instructor for the Caribbean and the Americas.
On Friday 28th October, he held a training session with the coaches at the conference room of the Oualie Beach hotel.
Immediately following the session, the coaches took to the beach, where they were asked to observe four local youthful swimmers as they went through their paces.
Their job was to identify, the good aspects of their swimming technique and instruct them as to ways of improvement.
Sessions continued on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th October, from 9.30 am to 1 pm.
There were also afternoon sessions from 3 pm to 4.30 pm which involved local swimmers.
Successful candidates completing the course, will receive a level one FINA coaching certificate.
The swimmers would have previously completed an online education program and the sessions on Nevis involved theoretical and practical work.
