Seven beauties from across the Eastern Caribbean community will vie for the Miss OECS title in Dominica this November.
The Miss OECS Pageant came out of a two-decade hiatus in 2019 when five ladies competed for the covetous title, at the time, last won by the pageant’s home country, Dominica.
The 2019 title was captured by Miss St. Lucia, Erlyca Frederick.
The contestants are:
Miss Anguilla, Celina Hodge. She is an entrepreneur who has utilized her love for hair styling and photography to create her own businesses.
Miss St Lucia is Kejean Tori Smith. She has a passion for theatre arts and the social and educational development of young people. She is a teacher at the Entrepot Secondary School and sees herself in the distant future as a Legal and Legislative advocate for the young people of Saint Lucia.
Miss Antigua and Barbuda, Keriann Thomas. She is a law enforcement officer within the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda who is passionate about dancing, modelling, and fitness.
Miss St. Kitts and Nevis, Kahnein J Blanchette. She is a banker who is passionate about Sports and dance.
Miss St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ikeya Providence. She is a national footballer and aspiring female football coach who is also pursuing studies in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management at the UWI Open Campus.
Miss Grenada, Reesa McIntosh. She is a cultural enthusiast from the tri-island state of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Reesa is an individual who is highly passionate about the creative arts, with a strong affinity for singing and dancing
Miss Dominica, Shannon Connor St. Hilaire. She is family-oriented, a jewelry designer, a goldsmith, and an intersectional environmentalist. She enjoys cooking, listening to music, photography, and videography and is passionate about contributing to the restoration of our planet’s optimal health.
At the official launch of the pageant this week, Pageant Director, RomouldaHyacinth announced that the show will be held under the theme ‘The Caribbean, a Tropical Utopia’,
She said because of the pandemic the pageant was on a halt for the past two years however with the reopening of borders the pageant is back on as part of Dominica’s independence celebrations.
“It is our hope that this pageant will allow the contestants to promote their countries and cultures through their beauty, individual talent, poise, charisma and intelligence.”
Minister for Culture, Roselyn Paul says the pageant is an opportunity for the participating countries to share their cultures and broaden their horizons. She sees the pageant as an excellent addition to Dominica’s independence celebrations and thanked the participating countries for consenting to be part of the event.
The pageant will be held on November 5, 2022, at the Old Mill Cultural Center. The show will also be streamed live.
