Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 14, 2022 (RSCNPF): Thirty-nine-year-old Dion Richards of Lower Monkey Hill has been charged for causing the death of Lynette Nanton (26 years old) of College Street Ghaut.
Following an autopsy on Nanton’s body on August 26, 2022, it was concluded that her death was due to multiple organ damages due to severe craniofacial trauma due to the consequence of a motorbike accident.
Nanton was a passenger on a motor scooter that was involved in a traffic accident on August 08, 2022, which occurred along the Island Main Road in Brighton, Cayon. It involved motor scooter PB4254 which is owned and was ridden by Jahvan Morton of Monkey Hill and motor scooter PA7176 which is owned and was ridden by Dion Richards also of Monkey Hill. Circumstances are that both vehicles were traveling from Cayon to Ottley’s. Richards attempted to overtake PB4254, which was carrying passenger Nanton. At the same time, a motor truck was traveling in the opposite direction and PA7176 collided with PB4254. As a result, Morton lost control and he and Nanton fell to the ground.
Morton sustained injuries to his feet and Nanton received injuries to various parts of her body. She was transported to the JNF Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on August 22, 2022.
On August 17, 2022, Richards was charged with the offence of Dangerous Driving. He was then charged on September 12, 2022, for the offence of Causing Death by Dangerous Driving.
