PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad – The CWI Women’s Rising Stars U19 Championship is set for a grand finale on Wednesday when Trinidad and Tobago face the USA in the last match of the tournament. The two teams both recorded wins on Tuesday to set up the showdown, which will be played at Brian Lara Cricket Academy at 2:30 pm (1:30 pm Jamaica Time).
Entering the final round they top the points standings on 18 points from five matches – including four wins and one No-result. T&T have a slight edge on the net run rate at 2.895, while the USA’s net run rate is 2.574.
Ahead of the tournament-decided, the day’s other match will be between Guyana and Windward Islands at 10 am (9 am Jamaica Time). The Windwards are in joint third place alongside Barbados on 10 points and will look to ensure they get their third win of the tournament and secure the third spot.
In action on Tuesday, both teams recorded their victories on the Duckworth/Lewis/Stern Method as rain again interrupted play. T&T made 111-7 off their 20 overs and then bowled out the Windward Islands for 68 off 14.3 overs after they were set a revised target of 89. Amelia Khan was the star for the home side with figures of 3-0-17-4.
In the other match, the USA restricted Guyana to 47-5 off 15 overs. They were set a revised target of 53 and motored to 56-0 in 9.1 overs to record an emphatic win by 10 wickets. The day’s third match between Barbados and Jamaica at Diego Martin Sports Complex was abandoned without a ball bowled.
