Sunday 20th March, saw real exciting cricketing action at the VOJN playing field.
After witnessing an exciting game in the second division finals in the Harvey Stapleton T-20 tournament, the sizeable crowd sat down to witness the grand division one finals, between Highlights 1 and Empire.
Empire won the toss and elected to bat first.
They amassed a healthy 156 for 7 from their 20 overs, with Javier Liburd leading the way with an elegantly composed 59. He was well supported by Rakeesh Subnarine who smashed 48.
Highlights 1 was struggling at one point and Empire seemed to have the game wrapped up.
Enter TJari Clarke and he played arguably the innings of the tournament, just missing out on a deserved century.
He smashed the Empire bowling to all parts of the ground, hitting 6 maximums in the process.
When he got out, there was a glimmer of hope for Empire, but Highlights managed to cross the line in the 20th over.
