Tributes Pour at Impressive Wake for Chesley Faro Davis

Cotton Ground-Nevis- It was organized by his colleagues at his last place of work-The Community Development Department.

It was an impressive WAKE, held in honour of the late, fallen cultural icon, Chelsey FARO Davis.

The venue was the Cotton Ground Community Center and it was held on the evening of Thursday 3rd March.

The proceedings were fittingly chaired by his very close friend and former work colleague, Halstead SOOTY Byron who described him as a historian and cultural encyclopedia, par excellence.

Among others paying tribute were: His most recent boss and Director at the Community Development Department, Mrs. Janet Meloney, who noted that he was ‘passionate about culture; a plain speaker; a fun lover; very helpful and willing to go the extra mile.’
She also read the sentiments of some of his former co-workers:
‘Excellent MC; excellent researcher, humourous; full of laughter, great knowledge of Nevis culture and history.’

Director of Culture, Antonio ABONATY Liburd, spoke to the huge role he played in Culturama over the years.

Vera Hebert, Clayton Huggins, Earl PANCHO Morton and Mildred Williams, all delivered glowing tributes in poetry, while Deli Ranks rocked the audience with one of his big hits.

A sobering tribute was paid by the Hon. Cleone Stapleton-Simmonds indicated that FARO was a family friend.

Frank Mills also rendered an item of music and Junior Parris showcased his talent on the pan, with a well-received selection.

SOOTY Byron and Ras Binghi Parris also teamed up in a superb drumming rendition and one of the highlights of the evening was a duet by Mikey Slack and SOUL Ken, doing the song, ‘I did it my way.’

The masquerades brought down the house, with Minister Eric Evelyn, also hitting the dance floor with his tomahawk.
