Although disappointed with the fact that the Windies Rising Stars did not perform much better in the ongoing under 19 world cup, being hosted in the Caribbean, Sports Analyst Frankie Claxton, is generally impressed with strides made by the under 19 cricketers in the region.
He is even more impressed with the progress of the four Nevisians involved in the regional team: Onaje Amory, Carlon Bowen Tuckett, Jaden Carmichael and Justin Amurdan.
He believes strongly that the young cricketers must be given an opportunity to play more cricket, which would only aid their further development.
As a matter of fact, he believes that the Windies board missed a trick, by not fielding the under 19 team in the upcoming regional season, as a separate unit.
He also believes that the WICB, in collaboration with regional boards, should resume specialized training, as occurred in times past, when former outstanding cricketers, travelled around to the various islands and conducted coaching sessions in bowling, batting, wicket keeping and fielding etc.
