Your stay and condition of stay at Quarantine Sites, approved by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) are guided by the provisions of the Public Health Act, Quarantine Act and the Public Health (Quarantine) Regulations.
These legislations give the CMO, as the Public Health Authority, wide powers to protect Public Health.
A person can be quarantined at home, on any vessel, or at a site designated by the Chief Medical Officer.
Any person who refuses or willfully omits to do any act which he or she is required to do by this Act, or refuses or willfully omits to carry out any lawful order, instruction or condition made, given or imposed by any officer or other person acting under the authority of this Act, commits an offense and shall be liable, on summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding five thousand five hundred dollars or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding six months or to both such fine and imprisonment. BASIC SECURITY GUIDELINES/CONDITIONS
Persons in Quarantine are:
Not permitted to leave the premises/vessel without the permission of the CMO, or unless there is a medical emergency, in which case the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) must be summoned.
Not permitted to have visitors on the premises/vessel.
Not permitted to host any social event on the premises/vessel.
Required to comply with all directives of the CMO.
Deliveries are permitted, however, all items delivered to the property/vessel MUST be left outside of the premises and collected by the person in quarantine thereafter. There should be no physical contact between the parties.
