World Cancer Day is an international day marked on February 4th to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. World Cancer Day is led by the Union for International Cancer Control to support the goals of the World Cancer Declaration. This year the theme is ‘I Am and I Will’. It is an empowering call to action urging for personal commitment and represents the power of individual action taken now to impact the future.
In observance of the day this year, the Health Promotion Unit would like to engage businesses and institutions in their initiative dubbed The Cancer Code. We would like for each business/dept./institution on the island to acknowledge one cancer and have the entire team wear the color that represents that cancer on Thursday, February 4th (this coming Thursday). Attached is an image that shows the various colors you can wear and the cancers they represent. At some point throughout the day on Thursday, we are asking that you please take photos and upload them to our FB page (Nevis HPU) or to your page and tag us.
Thank you for your continued cooperation in our fight against NCDs.
