The ongoing T-20 tournament being hosted by the Nevis Cricket Association saw its first major upset on Sunday 1st November, in match two, played at the VOJN grounds.
The Youths of Nevis came up against their more illustrious opponents, Empire, which was laced with a number of current and former national players.
Youths of Nevis, not taking anything for granted, also included, Kittitian and Leeward island star batsman, Akeem Saunders to their lineup.
Youths of Nevis batted first and got to what looked like a below-par 129, in their allotted 20 overs.
Empire in response was cruising along, well ahead of the run rate, with Andre Browne and Kejel Tyson, both batting superbly. However, when that partnership was broken and Empire entered into murky waters.
Enter Azeem Becarmajet. He bowled 2.3 overs and bagged all of 4 wickets, for just 3 runs. 103 for 5, suddenly became 108 for 9!
Empire eventually succumbed at 114 all out and the Youths of Nevis celebrated!
