The Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will be supporting COVID-19 related good causes throughout the 2020 tournament. For each six that is hit at the tournament, $50 will be donated to COVID-19 causes. Last season there were 541 Hero Maximums hit at the tournament, and this season we have seen 115 sixes in the first 10 games so far meaning that $5,750 has been raised with 23 matches still to go.
Pete Russell, Hero CPL’s COO, said: “Hero CPL takes our responsibility to give back to communities across the Caribbean very seriously and we are delighted to support these very worthy causes. There are amazing people from across the Caribbean and from around the world who have been working incredibly hard to help those who are most in need, and we have been touched by so many of these stories. We are hoping that we see more sixes than we did last year so the total raised is as high as possible.”
Hero CPL is fast becoming known as the destination for the biggest six-hitting in world cricket and this year features renowned power hitters such as Andre Russell, Kieron Pollard, and Chris Lynn. This year’s tournament is taking place in two stadiums in Trinidad with the six teams playing 33 matches at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy and the Queen’s Park Oval. The final will take place on 10 September 2020.
