Franklyn KUT Daniel, President of the Nevis Masters Cricket Association, indicated in a recent interview with NTV Sports, that the Nevis Masters Cricket family was indeed disappointed that the 2020 Leewards Masters Cricket tournament had to be postponed, but totally understood the rational, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Daniel noted that his team was really looking forward to regaining the championship they lost last year in Antigua and were already getting into serious preparations, just prior to the forced cancellation of the tournament.
Daniel, however, noted that in the interim, the Masters’ club made a significant donation of hand sanitizers to the Nevis COVID task force and the innovative members also created a virtual tournament via WhatsApp, complete with statistical scores and regular updates, during the entire weekend when the tournament was previously scheduled.
Naturally, of course, Nevis ‘won’ the tournament quite handsomely.
Going forward, Daniel is not excluding the possibility of the Nevis Masters participating in the Nevis local second division tournament, whenever that is allowed to get on the way and he is definitely looking forward to 2021 when the Leewards Masters tournament will once again be slated for St. Kitts.
‘We will be ready,’ he said, confidently.
