Certain key players spoke to the press on Wednesday. These included: Education officer Mrs. Terez Dore, Headmistress Miss Shenelle Pemberton, current Coach Jamie Hamilton and former Coach Adelvin Phillip.
The information revealed indicates that the second annual relay festival, will be held at the Mondo track, tomorrow Friday, January 17. The event will be held during the hours of 1 pm to 4 pm and a minimal fee of $5.00, will be expected from patrons.
Significantly, it was noted that the event will be held as part of the school’s 12th-anniversary celebrations.
The exciting event will commence with the 4×200 meters, followed by the 4x 150 meters. Then there will be a break, followed by the 4×400 meters, followed by the medley event and then the much anticipated 4×100 meters clash will climax the afternoon’s proceedings.
All of the Primary schools on the island are expected to participate in the child-friendly event, which is deemed not to be a competition, as all of the participants will receive medals.
The Nevis Academy is the lone Primary school missing, due to certain logistics. Each school is expected to be represented by 16 athletes: Eight girls and eight boys.
There are 16 events scheduled for the day and the organizers are working hard on a possible 17th which will see all of the coaches of the various schools, hitting the track, in a 100 meters dash, which will certainly be one of the highlights of the day.
