The exciting 2019 edition of the Nevis Sports Department/Development Bank tape ball league, bowled off on Sunday 29th September, at the ET Willet Park. An impressive ceremony was held, which was ably chaired by Cricket Coordinator at the Department of Sports, Carl Tuckett.
Mr. Tuckett warmly welcomed all of the officials, teams, and spectators and indicated that the champion team of last year, the Empire Sports Club, has pulled out of this year’s competition. A prayer rendered by Rev. Ron Daniel and the national anthem of St. Kitts and Nevis were duly observed.
Representative of the Platinum sponsor of the league, the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis, Nevis’ Branch Manager, Miss Hyacinth Pemberton, praised the work of the organizers in assisting in the development of the youths of Nevis and pointed out that the Bank will continue to sponsor such activities, because of the many success stories that have resulted from such endeavors.
The feature address was delivered by the Minister of Sports, Hon. Eric Evelyn, who lauded the efforts of the Sports department and also of the Development Bank. He marveled at the continued generosity of the Bank and wondered if they ever said ‘No.’
