Lucien Gives Back To the Community

Charlestown, Nevis – Former Youth Development officer at the Youth Department in Nevis, Mr. Lucien York, is bent on giving back to the community and in the process, help the youths of Nevis, as they prepare to return to school in September.

He will be hosting the RECHARGE YOURSELF, youth empowerment session, geared towards high school students.

One of the features of the one-day event will see York give a personal testimony of his journey from being diagnosed with dyslexia, to his pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in youth development.

Among the specially invited speakers, will be Mr. Kamil Wilkin, who will address the topic ‘Subject planning.’  Another youth, Miss D’Gene Dias, will speak on the topic ‘Self-confidence and body image’.  Other speakers will include, Miss Shelisia Glasford and Mr. York himself, who will assist with the topic ‘Goal setting’.

Mr. York indicated that from his experience, he has seen a lot of children going to a particular school for the first time, or even children returning to school for the new term, and are extremely unprepared.  The session will seek to rejuvenate and recharge the students and get them fully prepared for the upcoming term.
The session is slated for Friday 30th August, at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church hall, commencing at 1 pm.
