“Argentina to help St. Kitts & Nevis´ football” Argentine Coach arrives in Basseterre to work with SKNFA

The intense collaboration in the field of sports between Argentina and the Caribbean, triggered by the signing of a key regional Memorandum of Understanding between the Argentine Football Association (AFA) and the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) in last February, will reach the shores of St. Kitts & Nevis for the very first time.
The Ambassador of Argentina, Gustavo Martínez Pandiani, and the President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA), Anthony Johnson, shared their enthusiasm upon the arrival of renowned Argentine football coach Daniel Melendi to Basseterre, the first step of the technical assistance put in place between both nations with the aim of improving the sport local practice. Melendi, a professional trainer with vast international experience around the world, arrives in SKN on Monday, June 17th , to conduct an assessment on the developmental needs of SKNFA, and design a work plan to improve the tactical capacities of the island´s Senior National Team.
As expressed by Ambassador Pandiani “The commitment of the Argentine government to assist St. Kitts & Nevis in their quest to continue professionalizing football represents a great opportunity to keep developing the bilateral relationship” between the island and the two-time World Cup winner country. He also explained that football, as a popular sport, is a “perfect vehicle to bring the peoples together across all borders”. . Meanwhile, an elated Johnson highlighted the importance and potential of the project, by describing it “as a crucial step forward for St. Kitts & Nevis to take advantage of the invaluable experience of Argentine football”.
