GREEN DOMINATES AT GSS
The Gingerland Secondary School, hosted its annual Sports meet on Thursday 21st February, at the Gingerland Recreation grounds or THE SWAMP.
It was held under the distinguished patronage of Mr. Lemuel Pemberton, former student; former teacher at the school and a man who continues to contribute significantly to the welfare of the school. He is currently a voluntary coach for the school’s Cricket team.
After an impressive march past, the exciting action got underway, on the track.
The grounds were sparsely populated for the early races, but as the afternoon wore on, the crowd swelled and the spectators were loud in their support of the various athletes and houses.
The athletes competed fiercely in the 400; 800; 1500; 100; 200; 4×100 and 4×400 meters races. At the end of the day, when commentators Brian Dowe and Hon. Eric Evelyn, made the grand announcement of the final placements, it was Green house doing the lap of honour:
1st place-Green house—219-champions
2nd place-Blue house-211 points
